El Maguey

It always seems like when I come home for the weekend my family heads to El Maguey. The food is good, cheep and you get a lot! We had a coupon so we figured we would take advantage of it :) So far this weekend has been really nice. We have eaten dinner together both last night and tonight! I made spinach lasagna rolls last night! I was so proud of myself because it was my own recipe. I just twisted the original version. I will try to get the recipe up!!! Tomorrow is my cousin's wedding shower. My mom and I spent all day preparing for it. It has been a very long day. I have been very proud of myslef because I have been taking pictures everywhere I go.

My sister and mother showing off the St. Norbert's sweatshirt! My mom loves it.

They wouldn't stop laughing. That usually happens.

Sisters.

People say I look like my dad...I would say so!

And people say they look alike.

Soundtracks of Our Lives

Do you ever walk down the street listening to music and feel like the songs that are playing go perfectly with your day? I feel like everyone is walking to the beat that I am listening to. I feel like they can understand the lyrics. I notice this more when it is nice outside. I just listen to my iPod on the way to class just listening to the music with a smile on my face. I get this feeling of being in a movie. Weird, but I feel like everyone does this some time or another. That's why music is such an amazing thing. It can make anyone feel how they want to feel.

Semi-lacto-ovo-Vegetarian

I have decided to become a vegetarian. I am not a fan of meat to begin with so I figured I might as well try this unique life style. I am starting off by being a semi-lacto-ovo vegetarian, meaning I eat some fish, eggs and dairy products. I full vegetarian doesn't consume any animal product. I would like to get down to the point of just a lacto-vegetarian, meaning I don't eat any meat but I do consume dairy. I don't think I could ever give up dairy because I love cheese more than any other food. For now I am going to eat fish just because I LOVE sushi so much :). Hopefully I can stick to this and start living a much healthier life style. I also have to make sure I eat a full balanced meal considering I won't be eating meat. I take a daily vitamin, but I may need to switch things up and find a better vitamin so I don't lack anything my body needs.

Ash Wednesday

Today is the start of Lent. I remember when I was in grade school and getting the ashes put on my forehead. I would either forget that I had them on and make a mess because I would itch my head, or I would sweat them off. I haven't gotten ashes since 8th grade. A part of me feels bad, because that is my faith, but another part of me knows that God is forgiving. I have decided to give up ICE CREAM and soda. This is going to be really hard for my considering that I just bought sprite and cookie dough ice cream. I figure finish the ice cream today and bring the soda home for my sister this weekend, that way all temptation is gone. I also have to remember to not eat meat on Fridays. I don't eat meat that often, but for some reason during Lent I feel like I always crave it. Weird right? Well I am willing to try.

Laughing Cow Cheese

This is my new favorite thing, spreadable cheese. I went to Walmart today and finally bought some. I have heard how healthy they are and how they don't have a lot of calories, so it only made sense to try it out. I got the french onion flavor. It is very good the flavor is mild and the texture is smooth. I spread it on triscuits! I think next time I am going to get the original and cut up some apple slices. Sounds good to me :)

THANK YOU
AMY AND NICK
:)
Can't wait to see you guys again!

Chicago

This weekend I spent my time in Chicago. Anthony came down from De Pere. We stayed with Anthony's sister, Amy and her fiance Nick. I got there late Friday night on the megabus. We went back to Amy and Nick's place and had really good pizza. :) (Both a favorite of Anthony and I). That night we passed out early, tired from all the traveling. Saturday Anthony and I went walking down Michigan Avenue. We went to a Ghirardelli parlor, where they had all sorts of ice cream sundaes and hot drinks and shakes. We got a very berry sundae. Oh man was it good!!!

I have never been to Chicago and I could not get enough of it! Even with all the snow and cold weather we continued to shop, well I did. I tried to stay out of some places just so I wouldn't spend all the money I have. I did get some clothes from Gap though. All the spring clothes are out and the colors are wonderful. After awhile the snow started to come down real bad so we headed back and curled up to watch a movie. Later that night we all went to Rise, an awesome sushi place. It was nice to hang out with Amy and Nick since we never get to see them. It was also nice to hang out with mr. samson. He is just a huge teddy bear.

Isn't he a cutie!!! I can't wait to get my puppy. I loved Chicago a lot. I am really thinking about living some time up there after I graduate. I think it would be a fun life with lots to do and see. I know Anthony wouldn't mind either. Over all I would say the weekend went very very well.

Meremac Soccer

Tonight I had my first practice with the girls soccer team. I haven't played since the beginning of my senior year! My legs feel like jello. It was fun, but at the same time it showed me that I need a lot more work. You can tell I haven't played in awhile because my passes are just slightly off. I know were I want to put the ball but my feet aren't in tune with my mind yet, but they will get there!!! Just got to think positively :) I also need to start running more. That way when it comes time for the season in August I will be ready to go. Hopefully I can keep my head in the game and start getting serious.

Slow Motion

Why is it that the one time you want time to fly by it doesn't, but when you want a time to last forever it flies? I just want to be on a bus on my way up to Chicago! I have done everything possible to make the time move faster: cleaned my room, did all my homework for the rest of the weekend, read my book, watched a movie, packed, painted my nails, and watched TV. Nothing seemed to help. I just need to sleep. Sleeping always makes the time fly by. I remember when my family went to Disney World, I was in 5th grade, I was so excited all I wanted to do was go to bed so when I woke up it would be the day that we were finally leaving. Sometimes I wish I could make time move a little faster, instead of moving in slow motion, but still hold on to those times when I never want that moment to end.

Homework

I just finished a paper!!! That is one of the things I had to get done this week before I head off to Chicago! Also for my art class I had to go see an art exhibit at Stephen's College. It was a display of contemporary work. One of the displays was awesome. It was a dark room and hanging from the ceiling were these thin "puffs" of cloth. There were random words being projected onto the fabric, making it look like rippling water. There was a pile of sunflower seeds under the work where you lay down and look up and the cloth. It was like you were laying at the bottom of the ocean. It was one of the most interesting things. It was the smaller exhibit. There is a larger one somewhere else. The other works were just random objects put together, not really making that much sense, but it was still neat to see. Now all I have to do is put a presentation together for Bioethics!!! Wish me luck :)

A Walk to Remember

This is a classic movie. Every time I watch it, it makes me happy to know that I have someone who truly loves me and who I truly love back. People say you can't find love at such a young age, but I think they are wrong. I have found someone who makes me happy, who makes me want the best for myself and others, who makes me smile when I cry, who can make me feel like I am the luckiest girl alive when everything is going wrong. If that isn't love, than I don't know what is.

Mandy Moore's character, Jamie, makes a list of things that she wants to do with her life. Here is mine:

1. Save someone.
2. See a miracle.
3. See something breath-taking.
4. Be successful and happy with my life.
5. Have a safe and happy family.
6. Face all my fears.
7. Be able to fly.
8. Know the true meaning of life.
9. Fall in love.
10. Have never ending faith.

Love is patient, love is kind.
Love is not jealous, it does not brag, and it is not proud.
Love is not rude, is not selfish, and does not become angry easily.
Love does not remember wrongs done against it.
Love is not happy with evil, but is happy with truth.
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails

Love

The word has lots of meanings. There is a love toward friends, there is a love towards family, there is love towards a partner, and there is love toward objects. I think the most accurate meaning of love is a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, friend or objects. The things I love are:
my mom and dad
my grandpa
my sister
Anthony
my friends
my cousins
my aunts and uncles
the Condellires
my dog(Coco)
my hermit crabs(Herman and George)
the stars
movies
sleeping
soccer
music
singing
working
my home
snow
nature
art
cooking
cheese
the people I work with
my computer and phone
pictures
bunnies.
I believe Valentine's Day is a day of love for everything. It is just a day to do and celebrate what you love and who you love. I was very happy that I got to see my family this weekend. today I spent all day with my sister and mom. We went shopping! Tonight my grandpa came over and we all ate dinner together. I would call that a good day of celebrating love.

Long Day

Today was a long day. I had to work a double. I made really good money, but my feet are killing me. I dealt with really nice people and really horrible people. The restaurants always pull in the strangest crowds. I am so tired and can't blog about Valentine's Day so I will just have to do that tomorrow. Hope everyone had a day full of love and happiness.

Here are the flowers today! I just had to put these pictures up, they are just so beautiful.

:)

Today ended up not being as bad as it started. I got flowers in the mail from Anthony. They are absolutely gorgeous. It is a mixture of red roses and white lilies. Lilies are my favorite flowers and they go so well with the roses. Not all of the lilies are bloomed yet, but in a few days they will be. Every time I look at them it puts the biggest smile on my face. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful boyfriend. Thank you BooBoo!

Rain

So walking in the rain is one thing, but walking in the POURING rain with NO umbrella is another. I check the weather every night before I go to bed and it said is was going to rain today and I could not find my umbrella this morning! I figured oh I will be fine, so I put on my rain boots and a flees jacket(the biggest no no with water) and headed off to class. It wasn't raining when I walked to my 8am but once I got out of my class it was pouring. By the time I got to my class I was dripping and my backpack was too! I still had one more class after that, so again I had to walk in the pouring rain. I had a hood on my jacket, but it was just so wet that there was no reason to even put it on. So my hair and face were all wet. My eyes were burning because my mascara ran into my eyes. It was not pretty. I sat in class freezing because by this time I was covered in water. Now was the time to walk home. I was walking back with my friend Jami. She was smart and had an umbrella, but at this time it didn't even help. The wind started up and her umbrella flipped out!!! So we were both wet and the wind was going crazy. My brain felt like it was frozen. It was just a bad way to start off the day if you ask me.

I know, I know poor me right. Well it is my blog and I can complain about walking in the rain :)

Here is a picture of our bathroom with our clothes everywhere hanging up to dry and shoes, because some people didn't listen to me when I told them to put their rain boots on ;)

Aromatherapy

This lotion is AMAZING. Not only does it make my skin super soft, but it has the most relaxing scent. My friend Amanda had it and I have been meaning to get it for a long time, so I bought it the other day when we went to the mall. This product is from Bath and Body Works. It is part of their Aromatherapy collection. This scent is for stress. The scent is Eucalyptus Spearmint. Not only does it smell great, but the bottle is pretty too! It comes in a green glass bottle. It is used to clear the mind and helps you focus. I got two bottles for 20 dollars. They are originally 13 dollars a piece, so I think I got a pretty good deal. Next time I go, I think I am going to get the bubble bath!! This would help me relax and take my mind off school. Also they have pillow mist in lavender scent, it supposedly helps you sleep :) I think it might be worth a try, but to everyone out there I highly recommend this product.

8am Classes

I have 8am classes everyday. I love having them, but at the same time don't. I love that I am done with classes by 10:50 on Mon, Wed, and Fri and by 12:15 on Tues and Thurs. I get school out of the way early and have the whole day free to get some studying/homework and other things done. The only bad thing is that I have trouble sleeping. I try to go to bed around 11ish, but it never happens. This is mostly because of my room mate. She doesn't get home sometimes till late, or when she is home she has to have her desk light on (which is really bright) and I just can't sleep with the light on. Also I usually wake up every hour of the night, so I really never get a good nights sleep. This week it has really caught up with me. I found myself bobbing my head in Bioethics and Chemistry. I guess I will have to use some of that free time to nap, or maybe get a really good workout in, so when I need to go to bed I pass out. We will see what happens!

Old Friends

This weekend was a lot of fun. I hung out with people that I haven't hung out with in a really long time. We all use to hang out about 2 or 3 years ago. Half of them are my grade school friends, the other half Lindbergh friends, plus boyfriends. It was a weekend party free. I had people over both Friday and Saturday night. It was really relaxing and got my mind clear of all problems. Friday we played Apples to Apples and Saturday Scattergories. When we played Scattergories we found ourselves putting the same words down, just because we all grew up together so we aren't really that different from each other. We spent most of the night laughing and talking about old times. I think everyone needed that in a way. It made me really excited to come home next year. I can't wait for next weekend, when I am home again!!! The only sad thing is I have to work all day on Valentine's Day! Oh well it will be a good day to make some money :)

Food

I have had a busy weekend full of food. I have been very obsessed with the foodnetwork. Every time I see something that I think will be good/easy I go to the website and print off the recipe. Friday I made verdura pizza. It is a veggie pizza and man was it good. My mom made the pizza dough in her bread maker and I did all the rest. The end product was awesome. It was light and refreshing and super healthy. I meant to take a picture of it before we ate it but it just looked to good. So here is the last piece.

On Saturday I went to El Maguey with my Mom and Dad. It was super nice out so all the restaurants were crazy. We didn't have to wait that long, thank god. My mom and I love the chips they give you. There is just something about them. You can't stop eating them, especially when you get the cheese dip with them! The one reason we love El Maguey is because their food is cheap and you get a large amount of it. The whole table was filled with food and there was only 3 of us. It was good to just relax and talk with my parents, I miss them a lot when I am gone.

Today I made Mudslide Brownies! They aren't done yet but they look so good and they smell even better. There is instant coffee in it so they smell like a chocolate mocha. My mom just got a new Kitchen Aid Mixer, the ones you always see on the cooking shows. They are really expensive and she found one at a good price at Walmart and couldn't pass it up. It made it super easy and everything turned out so smooth. This is the before picture. I will put the afterward picture up when they are done.

There is the final, before we cut them up and served them. They taste really creamy and you can really taste the coffee, which I love. mmmm....

Over all I would say that the food of the weekend was an excellent choice.

Just Arrived

I just got into St. Louis and I can not explain to you how pretty it is. The weather is perfect. It is 60 degrees, sun shinning and there is a slight breeze. I am so happy to be home :)

Since the weather is so nice I am going to take advantage of it and go for a nice run!

OCD

Sometimes I think I have OCD, actually I know I have it. I should probably go to the doctor but it's not that bad yet. There are a lot of certain things that I have to do. I have to keep my room clean and organized. If i don't I freak out! Anthony always makes fun of me because usually my room isn't that bad. There could be 2 things on the floor and I feel the need to clean. One thing that I think is a little crazy is the fact that my movies are in alphabetical order. I just feel like it is easier to find what you are looking for. I hate clutter. If I see something that doesn't look organized I have to fix it. I love organizing things though. I think I could have a business where I go into peoples homes and help them with their messes. :)

Brush my teeth.
Wash my face.
Go to the bathroom.
Turn down the heat.

This is what I do every night before I go to bed. If I don't do them I can't fall asleep. Hopefully someday I can break my little habits, but until then I will go on being crazy clean.

American Idol

I love to sing.

I enjoy music.

I am obsessed.

This being said, this show is perfect for me. This season has already shown great talent, girls and guys both. The addition of a new judge Kara is a perfect little touch. She is a mix between Simon and Paula. She is saucy but sweet and is very talented in the music industry. I can't wait for the next episode.

Purple

One of the most amazing colors is purple. There are so many different shades. I feel like each shade gives a different look. A soft lilac purple is soothing and calming. The most familiar purple color is vibrant and mysterious. A deep dark purple is luxurious and noble.

I feel like purple describes my personality. I believe I am a soothing person, but at the same time I am vibrant and full of energy! I like to be mysterious. This way people can take a guess at who I am (usually they have no idea). If you couldn't guess purple is my favorite color. I have lots and lots of things that are of some sort of purple shade: bedding, a lamp, picture frames, folders, bath towels and clothing. Actually as we speak, I am wearing purple nail polish! The color purple reminds me of my grandma. She loved the color purple. Her kitchen and bathroom were filled with it. I say it's because she was so vibrant and lively. When I look at purple I just get that feeling of beauty. This color is being seen more and more in housing and clothing. I believe purple looks good on anyone and on anything!

I love purple.

Being Sick

It is always hard to see someone sick. You are so compelled to help. Anthony is very sick. He has a cough and cold, and I think he has the flu. He only ate once yesterday!!! That's when you really know he is sick. :) I talked to him on skype, and I hated to tell him it, but he looked like crap. His eyes were all glassy, his hair was a mess, and he looked pale. It is really hard to see him so sick, and knowing that I am not there to take care of him upsets me. I keep telling him to drink lots of fluids and get LOTS and LOTS of rest. He told me he has been taking all kinds of medicine, ibuprofen, NyQuil, vitamin C, and tums. I think he is taking to much medicine personally, but what ever will make him feel better I can accept. Feel better Anthony and make sure you get lots and lots of rest!!!!
Oh p.s. Sorry about the picture Anthony ;)

10 Years Younger

I am obsessed with this show on TLC called 10 Years Younger. It is crazy what this crew does to a person. They do things like certain face treatments, laser eye surgery, and help with clothing and makeup. They put the man/women in a box and have them on display for the public. Than the public tells the host how old they think the man/ women is. The average guess is usually 10-15 years older than what they usually are. Then they go give them the make over, and put them back in the box. People guess their age all over again. Today some lady in the beginning had an average age of 52. She was actually 40!!! After the whole make over, people guessed her age to be 25!!!!!! yes,25. It is crazy what a good hair cut and a simple face treatment can do. I highly recommend watching it. It is usually on during the day, so if you can't watch it then tape it!
